Solid Home Repair specializes in the preservation and restoration of original wood windows throughout the Birmingham area. Rather than automatically replacing older windows, we repair the parts that make them work: the sash, frame, sill, glazing, cords, weights, trim, and weatherstripping.
We restore and preserve older single-pane wood windows, including vintage windows from the 1920s through the 1980s. We also provide epoxy wood repairs, sill replacement, and sealing for newer windows.
Older windows are built differently from modern replacements. We focus on retaining original materials where practical and making repairs that fit the window’s age, construction, and character.
Single-Pane Glass Only
We repair single-pane windows and can complete sill, trim, frame, wood rot, and sealing repairs around newer or double-pane windows. We do not repair or replace double-pane insulated glass units.

Project Pricing
Larger or more detailed projects are priced per job and are separate from standard day labor rates. Unlike straightforward day labor, these projects require additional planning and preparation outside of the physical work being completed onsite.
Project pricing includes the time required for the onsite walkthrough, drive time, project planning, material selection and lists, product or repair research, preparation, and labor needed to complete the agreed scope of work.
Materials are added separately at cost or purchased by client with supplied list.
Please send detailed photos and information about your project via text. An onsite walkthrough may be scheduled if needed.
Please note: The prices listed are general ranges intended to give an idea of service costs. Each repair, home, and situation is different, which will affect the final price. All pricing on the website is subject to change and will be determined on an individual basis.
